Tips From Tonia – September 2025 Blog

Hi! I am so excited about September’s Tips from Tonia. I am going through a messy renovation due to a flood in our kitchen, so it led me to get real about my kitchen. It was TIME TO PURGE! It’s been about a year or so since I have done a serious purge, so it was WAY overdue!

Here are some tips that I found helpful while decluttering for a renovation:

  1. Clear the Summer Clutter

Say goodbye to popsicle molds, oversized salad bowls, and seasonal serve ware you won’t be using until next year. Store them in labeled bins so they’re ready for next summer.

  2. Refresh the Pantry

    • Toss expired or stale items.
    • Group baking ingredients together, you’ll be glad you did when holiday baking kicks in!
    • Bring spices to the front and check freshness (anything older than 2 years likely needs replacing).
    • Consider updating your bins and labels to reflect any new dietary requirements such as Gluten Free/Dairy Free items.
  1. Deep Clean the Fridge & Freezer

    • Remove all items, wipe shelves, and sanitize drawers.
    • Store seasonal produce (like apples, squash, and root vegetables) in clear bins so they stay visible and fresh.
    • Take stock of frozen meals and soups so you know what to use before making new ones.
  1. Swap Out Seasonal Serveware

Bring out your slow cookers, Dutch ovens, soup bowls, and autumn-themed mugs for cozy gatherings. Store summer-themed glassware until next year. Anyone who knows me well, I am here for all the soup making items! Bring on FALL!

  2. Stock Up for Seasonal Cooking

Keep staples on hand for soups, stews, and baking:

    • Broths & stocks
    • Canned beans
    • Pasta & grains
    • Baking essentials (flour, sugar, chocolate chips, cinnamon, nutmeg)
  1. Create a Hot Beverage Station

Dedicate a space for coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and seasonal drink syrups. Include festive mugs to make mornings feel special.

  2. Adjust Your Flow

Move frequently used fall cooking tools (baking sheets, mixing bowls, roasting pans) within easy reach. This will save time and keep you inspired to cook.

Let me know how your kitchen purge/organization went! I am excited to see who was inspired! 😊
