Make Your Next Move Feel Lighter

Downsizing isn’t just about having less space. It’s about deciding what belongs in the next chapter of your life and letting go of what doesn’t.

Whether you’re moving to a smaller home, transitioning after your children leave the nest, relocating, planning ahead for the future or simply ready to simplify, Sorted Out® can help you work through your belongings at your own pace.

We’ll support you through the process, one decision at a time, so you can feel confident about what you’re taking with you.

Downsizing Is for Every Stage of Life

Downsizing isn’t only for seniors.

You might be ready for a smaller home now that your children have moved out. You might be relocating to a condo, moving closer to family, or realizing that your current home contains more than you need.

Whatever your reason, downsizing is an opportunity to create a home that better fits the way you live today.

Sorted Out® provides personalized downsizing support for adults at any stage of life, with a process designed around your timeline, your priorities, and your decisions.

A Downsizing Process That Moves at Your Pace

Deciding what to keep and what to let go of can take time. We’ll never pressure you to make a decision before you’re ready.

You are the decision-maker throughout the decluttering process. Our role is to guide, support, and help you work through your belongings without becoming overwhelmed.

We can help you:

  • Sort through belongings throughout your home

  • Decide what should move with you

  • Identify items to donate, sell, consign, or discard

  • Work through sentimental belongings and difficult decisions

  • Create manageable categories and priorities

  • Prepare items for donation or consignment

  • Drop off donation items and coordinate consignment arrangements

You make the decisions. We help you get through them.

A Downsizing Process That Moves at Your Pace
Downsizing Support Throughout Your Home

Downsizing Support Throughout Your Home

Downsizing can involve any area of your home, not just a specific room or category of belongings. We’ll help you prioritize the spaces that need the most attention based on your move and your goals.

Depending on your needs, that may include:

  • Guest rooms

  • Laundry rooms

  • Mudrooms

  • Attics and other storage spaces

  • Other areas throughout the home

Start Downsizing Early to Reduce Stress

If you know a move is coming, the sooner you begin, the better.

Starting early gives you time to make thoughtful decisions without the pressure of a moving deadline. You can work through your home gradually rather than trying to sort through years of belongings all at once.

It also gives you time to revisit difficult decisions and take care of items you’re donating or consigning before the move.

The goal isn’t to rush through your belongings. It’s to give yourself enough time to make decisions with confidence.

What Happens to the Things You’re Letting Go?

Once you’ve decided what no longer belongs in your home, we can help with the next step.

Donate

We’ll drop off donation items for you so they don’t continue taking up space in your home.

Consign

If you have items that may be appropriate for resale, we can help get them set up for consignment.

Discard

We’ll help you identify items that are no longer usable or appropriate for donation or resale and determine the appropriate next step.

Donation drop-offs and time spent coordinating or setting up consignment are included within your package time. Any additional fees charged by third-party services for pickup, hauling, or removal of large or bulky items are the client’s responsibility.

Support for the Decisions That Aren’t Easy

Downsizing can involve more than practical decisions. Your belongings may represent memories, milestones, relationships, and different stages of your life.

That’s why our approach is supportive rather than prescriptive.

We won’t tell you what you should keep, and we can’t make those decisions for you. Instead, we’ll help you work through your belongings, ask thoughtful questions, create order in the process, and keep you moving toward your goal.

You remain in control throughout the process. We’re there to make it feel more manageable.

From Downsizing to Moving Day

Once you’ve decided what is coming with you, Sorted Out® can provide additional support to help make the transition easier.

Depending on your needs, downsizing services can work alongside our moving and organizing services to help you decide, prepare, move, unpack, and organize.

That means you can have support not only deciding what stays and what goes, but also creating an organized home on the other side.
